Join us for a night of learning how educators are successfully using food to teach children and adults topics like science\, math\, and social science.\n\nThis event will include:\n\n  A cooking lesson integrating Math\, Science\, and Social Studies by Harvard Professor Michael Brenner and Chef Koochooloo founder\, Layla Sabourian\n\n  Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments\n\n  Q & A with Layla Sabourian and Michael Brenner\, experts in the field of food education\n\n  Networking with other educators and food enthusiasts\n\nWHO WILL PRESENT?\n\nMichael Brenner and Layla Sabourian will be co-teaching a cooking lesson\, demonstrating how we can use food to teach science and math.\n\nMichael Brenner:\n\nMichael Brenner is the Glover Professor of Applied Mathematics and Applied Physics\, and Harvard College Professor at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences. He developed the popular Harvard class\, "Science and Cooking: From Haute Cuisine to the Science of Soft Matter\," with his colleague David Weitz and chef Ferran Adri . His research uses mathematics to examine a wide variety of problems in science and engineering\, ranging from understanding the shapes of bird beaks\, whale flippers and fungal spores\, to finding the principles for designing materials that can assemble themselves\, to answering ordinary questions about daily life\, such as why a droplet of fluid splashes when it collides with a solid surface.\n\nLayla Sabourian:\n\nLayla Sabourian is the founder and CEO of Chef Koochooloo\, an after-school\, interdisciplinary cooking program that teaches students about science\, math\, and social science through exploring the cuisines of cultures around the world. For three years\, Chef Koochooloo has taken over 2\,000 children on international culinary journeys\, supported by an app that includes hundreds of easy to follow recipes and educational materials. In addition to her work with Chef Koochooloo\, Layla is a seasoned international entrepreneur with a background in product management\, partner marketing\, digital media and community development.
