CSA Food Distribution Surpasses 1,000 Households

The need for CSA programs and services continues to grow. In calendar year 2017, the number of people looking to the agency for food, financial assistance and other safety net services climbed to over 10,000.

October marked the first month in recent years that the total number of households receiving food through the Food & Nutrition Center (FNC) and food outreach programs passed the 1,000 mark - for a total of 1,016 households or 3,183 individuals served!

"Why I Care" - Saira Seena George, FNC Volunteer

Volunteering at CSA has definitely enriched my life in ways I didn't expect - from changing the way I shop to the lessons and stories from the many volunteers and people from different walks of life that I get to meet every day. Seeing the joy on peoples' faces when they pick up their food puts a big smile on my face whenever I am here. I am grateful and proud to be a tiny part of the wonderful work that CSA is doing in the community.

"Why I Care" - Kitty Petersmeyer, FNC Volunteer

Working in the pantry on Wednesday mornings has become a regular part of my life. I have met some wonderful people - including other volunteers, clients and staff - and feel that I am helping to make a difference. It's been a good way to connect with others. I have also learned a great deal about CSA's scope of service and the clients themselves. There's so much more being offered here than I ever thought. I have enjoyed getting to know the clients and hearing their stories.
How You Can Help: Donate Food, Organize a Food Drive ...

With so many of our neighbors depending on CSA for their nutrition, CSA would greatly appreciate food  donations, especially in early spring and the summer months when our pantry shelves are a little bare.

Donations of individual size servings of pop-top canned soups, pop-top prepared meals in a can, pop-top canned proteins (chicken, tuna, salmon etc.), healthy snacks and low-sodium vegetables are appreciated.

Please drop off your donations at CSA, Monday through Friday, 9AM to noon or 1:30 to 4PM. For more information, please contact (650) 968-0836, extension 193.
